A Plant-Based and Fantastical World
Dana is an artist from Porto-Vecchio. She has been painting since the age of 3, as she was born with the desire and need to express what she observes and feels, whether on canvas or other surfaces.
Nature is her endless source of inspiration and reference. She channels its forms and energies by working on various media, as long as the design brings a beautiful artistic vibration to the space.
Background
Born in 1968 in Ajaccio, Dana realized from a young age, thanks to the encouragement of her art teachers throughout her school years, that her vocation lay in painting and drawing.
After earning a degree in design from Marseille, she attended the Estienne School of Graphic Arts in Paris. Once she graduated, she chose to enter the field of communication, working as an art director for 14 years in Marseille and later in Réunion Island.
She later transitioned into teaching graphic design for 18 years at a vocational high school, until recently, which allowed her to balance personal creative time in her studio. She found an incredible source of inspiration in the tropical plants and exuberant nature surrounding her.
Now back in Corsica, she currently resides in Porto-Vecchio.
Inspiration
Dana’s favorite subjects are plants, vegetation, and animals. She has a special affection for birds with leaf-like feathers. The intricate details of a stem or a bulb also inspire her to create new, imaginative worlds.
A Dreamlike World
In the end, her drawings and paintings present a unique blend between plant and organic, or plant and animal life.
Her latest creations feature tubes as a recurring theme, which can be interpreted as part-organic, part-algae, representing sensors— a kind of bridge between the visible and the invisible, the physical and the metaphysical.
